Valentine's Dinner Dates

Monday, February 18, 2013

Valentines Day was sweet and low-key this year. My husband prepared a delicious breakfast in bed for me (as seen in my previous post) and then we went to dinner at our favorite restaurant, City House. We can't get enough of that place...they make the best pizza's and homemade pasta's. It's all local and delicious. Trent ordered a traditional margherita pizza and I ordered homemade bread gnocchi with cauliflower ragu. I've been dreaming about that gnocchi all week. We finished dinner and I decided to make dessert at home this year. I prepared a chocolate ganache fondue with all the fixin's and we shared dessert while Billie Holiday serenaded us in the background. It was a beautiful night.

The day before Valentines Day, my sister and I celebrated with a "sister valentines" date. My sister, Samantha, is my best friend and I just love her to bits...so we decided to get together and share dinner at a little hole in the wall Ethiopian restaurant called Gojo. If you've never had Ethiopian food, you must try it. Everything is served on a large platter where you eat with your hands and use crepe-like sourdough bread to pick up the food. It's so fun and such a different experience. We loved it.
